Edison Grainery is bringing organic sorghum, America's ancient grain, back to your pantry. These whole-grain white sorghum "berries" are packed with essential nutrients and dietary fiber. Sorghum has a mild flavor and sports a hearty texture. And it is an eco-friendly food choice, as it is naturally drought-tolerant and doesn't demand a lot of water to grow.

  • No, sorghum berries are not a fruit - they're a grain!
  • Because sorghum doesn't have an inedible hull, it needn't be de-hulled and therefore retains all of its nutrients.
  • Substitute sorghum berries for rice - they have more protein,calcium, and vitamins A and B.
  • You can pop sorghum berries like popcorn.


Directions for use:

  • Rinse and drain sorghum berries.
  • Bring 3 cups water or stock and 1 cup sorghum berries to a boil.
  • Cover, reduce heat and simmer for approximately 60 minutes or until berries are soft.
  • Fluff with fork and serve.
