Organic Red Quinoa

Red Quinoa:

Like our classic golden quinoa but with a deep red hue that has a slightly nuttier flavor. Substitute it for rice in your favorite dishes to get an extra protein boost. This "grain" is quick-cooking and packed with nutrients!


Stuff to know:

  • Quinoa isn't technically a grain - it's a relative of the spinach family!
  • A complete protein containing all 9 essential amino acids.
  • A natural antioxidant which is believed to prevent certain cancers and have anti-aging properties.

Directions for use:

  • Place quinoa in a fine mesh colander.
  • Thoroughly rinse under cold running water to remove naturally occurring "saponins" which can leave a bitter taste.
  • In saucepan, add one part quinoa to two parts liquid (water or stock).
  • Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for approx. 12 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and allow to sit for 4 to 7 minutes to achieve desired texture.
