Organic Canawa “Baby Quinoa”


This baby version of Quinoa doesn’t have a saponins or protective coating yet this small dark grain has just as much protein and amino acids but with a slightly sweeter taste.


Every family has one - and Quinoa is no exception; meet the dark seed.



Directions for sprouting:


  • Soak about 1/3 Cup Organic Canawa seeds in a jar for 2 to 4 hours, drain and rinse the seeds twice a day for 4 days. When the sprouts are about 1 inch long, place them near a window for chlorophyll to develop giving them a vibrant green color. 


Directions for stovetop prep:

  • Place Canawa seeds in a fine mesh colander and rinse under running cold water.

  • In saucepan, add 1 part quinoa to 2 parts liquid (water or stock).

  • Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for approx. 12 minutes.

  • Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Although there are a few exceptions, our lot codes follow this basic format:



AQR = the first set of letters is our 3-digit product identification code for Ancient Grain/Quinoa/Red


25 = the largest single unit size available from Edison Grain Inc.


1076 = this set of numbers reference the Julian Date Calendar and indicates when we received the product from our supplier.


PE = ISO two-letter country codes indicates the Country of Origin is Peru.


625 = finally, the last three digits is our internal warehouse code telling us the aisle/rack/bin to store the product


You can determine where in the world our current inventory originates from by referring to the 2 letter ISO Country Code appearing on the COA. For instance; Canada = CA, Mexico = MX, Turkey = TR, China = CN and of course, US = United States of America.

Verified Purity Tested and Verified Gluten Free:


Every lot of every ingredient entering our warehouse undergoes testing by an independent lab for Real-Time PCR tests to detect pathogens and determine gluten levels.


We’ve partnered with Genista Biosciences, LLC of San Jose, CA. Genista Biosciences is ISO/IE Stand 17025:2005 and are accredited by the International Accreditation Service (ias) and are a member in good standing of the American Proficient Institute.


As one of the criteria for using the claim "gluten-free," FDA set a gluten limit of less than 20 ppm (parts per million) in foods that carry this label. Being a Celiac family, the legal limit of <20ppm of gluten doesn’t work for us. We will not inventory product with gluten levels of >10ppms.

Processed in a dedicated Allergen Free Facility


Our grains are processed and stored in our dedicated ALLERGEN FREE production facility. This means the equipment used to handle and pack the ingredient is free of known allergens including the Big 8: milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
